Bar and Bat Mitzvahs
If you're preparing for a bar or bat mitzvah or need a gift for a b'nai mitzvah, we do hope you'll visit Afikomen. As a Jewish lifestyle store, we carry a wide selection of many things you will need (preparation books, prayerbooks and Torah portions, tallitot, kiddush cups, yads, and both individual kippot and personalized kippot), as well as a wonderful variety of appropriate gifts and cards.

Books
Rabbi Chaim, our book manager, has selected books to help you prepare ritually, spiritually, and practically, including prayerbooks and Torah portions. A few are pictured below.

Tallitot
We have a huge selection of tallitot from traditional to handmade; prices range from around $15 to $475. And if we do not have what you're looking for, we may be able to order it.

One of the joys of selling tallitot is sharing some of our customer's experiences as they make their selections. Alexis has recently begun to take pictures of b'nai mitzvot and others who like the idea of having their pictures on our website. See below for our picture gallery.

Kiddush Cups
Sterling silver, pewter, silver plate, glass & porcelain--we have traditional, modern, artistic, and unique kiddush cups with prices ranging from $10 to $350.

Yads
Yads are used to maintain one's place during the torah reading. Sometimes the b'nai mitzvah family purchases one as part of their preparation; a yad is also an appropriate gift for the bar or bat mitzvah. Afikomen has sterling silver, silver plated, enameled, glass, and painted wood yads, ranging in price from $15 to $150; some are pictured below.

Kippot
Afikomen has a large variety of knit, crocheted, suede, fabric, lace and beaded kippot from which to choose if your tallis does not come with one. We can also order personalized kippot for your b'nai mitzvah; see our Kippot page.

A special item that we carry for girls and women is a small selection of finely-crafted kippot beaded by Shoshana, an Israeli woman who lives in Southern California. If we do not have the color you want, she will make one to order for you. Click to see more.
